Trip to Waitangi

When we got to Waitangi we got welcomed in with a powhiri.

The first thing we went to was a little village that they had made.It had a whare moa a fish hanger and a kumara pit.

The next thing we saw was a waka it s name is Ngatokimatawharua it is the largest waka in the world.It was 35 metres long and can fit 120 people  and is weighed 6 tonne .

We went up and saw the flag pole and i saw a flag i had never seen before.When  we went to sit on the tree beside it a lady called Jojo told us all about it it was the New Zealand flag for  five years before the treaty.

Then she told us about the first european to come to New Zealand his name was Able Tasman. The maori blew a horn at him and Able Tasman blew a trumpet back which means bring it on and he got scared and went home and told no body to go back.A man called Captain Cook came many years later and he took a step on Aotearoa.
